Weekly Traffic Advisories (28 Mar)

**** Municipal Release

Street Closure – Gottingen Street

Location: Gottingen Street, between Bilby and Macara streets

Date: Saturday, March 29

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This lane closure is to facilitate the safe maneuvering of crane equipment on Gottingen Street for the new development at 5511 Bilby Street.

Traffic impact: The street will be closed for the duration of work. A marked detour will be in place.

Upcoming lane drops on Upper Water Street in support of the Cogswell District project 

Location: Upper Water Street, in front of Purdy’s Lane, as well as Upper Water Street before Hollis Street

Date: Tuesday, March 25 to Friday March 28, 2025

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: These lane drops are required to allow for the installation of pipe infrastructure in support of the Cogswell District project.

Traffic impact: There will be a lane drop on Upper Water/Hollis Streets between Granville Park and Ordinance Park from Tuesday, March 25, to Wednesday, March 26, to allow for the installation of a storm manhole. Traffic will be reduced to one lane southbound.

There will also be a lane drop on Upper Water Street at Purdy’s Lane from Wednesday, March 26 to Friday, March 28, to allow for the installation of pipe across the street. The street will be reduced to one lane and there will be stop and go traffic while work is underway.

Motorists should expect delays for the duration of this work and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Pedestrian and Cyclist impact: The multi-use path along Upper Water Street will remain open during this work.

Street Closure – Upper Water Street

Location: Upper Water Street, between Duke Street and 1883 Upper Water Street

Date: Friday March 28 at 7 p.m. to Monday, March 31 at 5 a.m.

Work details: This street closure is required for the installation of a new manhole to an existing sanitary sewer. The closure of the street and sidewalk will help provide a safe zone work zone.

Traffic impact: The traffic lane will be closed for vehicles travelling on Lower Water Street towards Duke Street. Vehicles travelling on Lower Water Street will be detoured up Duke Street. Trucks travelling on Lower Water Street will be detoured via Morris Street. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Pedestrian Impact: Pedestrian wayfinding signage will be in place. The sidewalk will be closed along the area where the work is been done. Pedestrians are asked to use alternative crosswalks to navigate around the project site. Cyclists will be detoured via wayfinding signs

Road Closure – Chebucto Road and North Street

Location: Chebucto Road and North Street, between Connolly Street and Oxford Street

Dates:  Tuesday, April 1 to Thursday, April 3

Time: 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Work details: This closure is needed to conduct electrical work for the new development at 6427 North Street.

Traffic impact: Detours will be in place for vehicles. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to used alternative routes wherever possible.

Street Closure – Almon Street

Location: Almon Street, from Agricola to Robie streets

Date: Friday, March 28

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: One-way closure for southbound traffic between Agricola to Robie streets. Detour signs will be in place for incoming traffic with pedestrian access maintained. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.
