​Update: Missing person found deceased, homicide investigation ongoing

The 26-year-old man who was reported missing on September 27 has been located deceased. The remains were located on September 29 near the intersection of Saunders Rd. and Raynardton Rd. in Yarmouth County.​

The death of Colton James Cook is considered by police to be suspicious and it is being investigated as a homicide.​ The RCMP’s Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit is conducting the investigation with the assistance of Yarmouth Town and Rural Detachments.​

Yarmouth County RCMP is asking for assistance from the public to locate 26-year-old Colton James Cook, who is missing from Brooklyn in Yarmouth County. He was last seen at 11 p.m. on September 25.

Cook is described as white,​ brown hair and brown​ eyes. He is 5-foot-8 tall and 190 pounds. When last seen he was wearing a black sweater, jeans, black and orange steel-toe boots and a black hat. His family and police are concerned for his safety.

When someone goes missing, it has deep and far-reaching impacts for the person and those that know them. We ask that people spread the word through social media respectfully.
