**** RCMP Media Release

Today is Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day, a time to pay tribute to the hard work, dedication and sacrifices made by Canadian police and peace officers.

The RCMP will honour our fallen colleagues today through virtual memorial services at the RCMP Depot Training Academy and on Parliament Hill.

Across Canada, flags on all federal buildings and establishments in Canada will fly at half mast, from sunrise to sunset, in honour of our fallen officers.

This year we lost one of our own, Cst. Heidi Stevenson. Cst. Heidi Stevenson, a 23-year veteran of the Force stationed at Enfield Detachment, was killed on April 19, 2020, while responding to an active shooter incident.

Please keep all fallen officers and their loved ones in your heart today, and take a moment to reflect on these officers’ exceptional courage and strength.
