Weekly Traffic Advisories

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Bedford Bypass

A repaving and guardrail project is taking place on the Bedford Bypass westbound lanes, from the exit to Dartmouth Road to the overpass near the intersection of Highway 101.

Repairs will also be carried out to the structures over Memory Lane, Rocky Lake Drive and Highway 102 from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should expect delays.

A detour will be in place for traffic bound for Highway 101. Traffic will be rerouted to Cobequid Road, Glendale Avenue, Highway 102 and Highway 101.

The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Sept. 18.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road in Meaghers Grant, will be closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer 2021.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall 2021.

Chebucto Road – Traffic Delay

Friday, September 11, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on Chebucto Road, at the Connolly Street intersection, on Saturday, September 12.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Berlin and Oxford streets – Road Closure

Friday, September 11, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the intersection at Berlin and Oxford streets will be closed on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. A marked detour will be in place while work is underway. Pedestrian traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.​

Millwood Drive – Road Construction

Thursday, September 10, 2020 (Halifax)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Millwood Drive, between Rafting Drive and Beaver Bank Road, on Friday, September 11.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Sackville Cross Road – Road Construction

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Sackville Cross Road, between Sackville Drive and Old Sackville Road, on Wednesday, September 9.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Robie and North streets – Road Construction

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will require the signals to be shut down at the intersection of Robie and North streets, on Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10.

Crews will be on site from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.​ each day. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct motorists, cyclists and pedestrians around the work site while the signals are shut down.

Robie Street – Traffic Delay

Tuesday, September 8, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on Robie Street, between Belmont Road and Inglis Street, on Wednesday, September 9.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to facilitate water lead service renewal and road reinstatement. This work will require the signals to be shut down at the intersection of Inglis and Robie streets.

The southbound lane will be closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the northbound lane while work is underway. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct motorists, cyclists and pedestrians around the work site while the signals are shut down.

Sackville Cross Road – Road Construction

Tuesday, September 8, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Sackville Cross Road, between Sackville Drive and Old Sackville Road, on Wednesday, September 9.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

First Lake Drive – Road Construction

Tuesday, September 8, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on First Lake Drive, from Metropolitan to Crimson drives, on Wednesday, September 9.

Crews will be on site from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Nova Terrace – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Nova Terrace, between Caldwell Road and Grenadier Drive, on Sunday, September 6.

Crews will be on site from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Caldwell Road – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Caldwell Road between Hampton Green and Nova Terrace on Sunday, September 6.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Ellenvale Avenue – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Ellenvale Avenue, between Woodlawn Road and Spring Avenue, on Saturday, September 5.

Crews will be on site from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Astral Drive – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Astral Drive, between Caldwell Drive and Parkedge Crescent, on Saturday, September 5.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Kinclaven Road – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Kinclaven Road, between Lockview and High roads, on Friday, September 4.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Margaret Road – Road Closure

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Margaret Road, between Cowie Hill and Mountain roads, will be closed on Tuesday, September 8.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. A marked detour will be in place while work is underway. Local traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.

Halifax Transit bus route #14 will be impacted as a result of this work. The following stops will be missed:

  • All stops on Mountain and Margaret roads
  • All stops on Cowie Hill Road, between Ridge Valley and Herring Cove Road

The route #14 detour will be as follows:

14-outbound: from Tamarack Drive (no service to Mountain Road)

  • Left to Peter Saulnier Drive
  • Left to Cowie Hill Road
  • Right to Ridge Valley Road
  • To regular routing

14-inbound: from Ridge Valley Road

  • Left to Cowie Hill Road (no service to Mountain Road)
  • Right to Peter Saulnier Drive
  • Right to Tamarack Drive
  • To regular routing

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Lockview Road – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Lockview Road, between the Lockview High School entrance and Old Lockview Road, on Friday, September 4.​

Crews will on site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Wildwood Boulevard – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Wildwood Boulevard, between Cranberry Crescent and Mount Edward Road, on Friday, September 4.​

Crews will on site from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Construction During COVID-19: Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to provide at least two metres of physical distancing.

Via HHB: Traffic advisory for Labour Day weekend: The Macdonald Bridge will be closed 7pm Friday, September 4 until 5:30am Tuesday, September 8. Sidewalk and bike lane will be open.

This is the final scheduled weekend closure on the Macdonald Bridge to replace bearings. Keeping the bridge closed Labour Day Monday means two bearings can be replaced and the number of weekend closures is reduced by one.
