Police lay charges in stabbing

Police have laid charges in relation to a stabbing that occurred in Dartmouth last weekend.

On May 12 at approximately 7:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of an injured person at the East Coast Amusements fair located at 219 Main Street in Dartmouth.

Officers located an 18-year-old man suffering from what were believed to be life-threatening stab wounds. He was transported to hospital for treatment.

On May 13, at approximately 10:45 a.m. officers arrested the suspect when he turned himself in at police headquarters at 1975 Gottingen Street in Halifax.

The 15-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in youth court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Attempted murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public

The incident remains under investigation by members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
