Police charge three people from Lunenburg County with drug trafficking

The South Shore Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit has charged three people from Lunenburg County through an investigation into cocaine and hydromorphone trafficking in Lunenburg.

On May 9 at approximately 5:20 p.m., while investigating cocaine trafficking, officers stopped a vehicle near Exit 9 on Highway 103 in Chester Basin and arrested three people. During the arrest, the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene and collided with a parked unmarked police vehicle. At the scene, officers located a quantity of cocaine, hydromorphone, fentanyl, cell phones and cash.

As a result:

Stefan Levy, 35 of Bridgewater, has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Flight from Police, Resisting Arrest and Assault with a Weapon. Levy was remanded into custody and will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on May 17.

Kala Swinimer, 33 of Bridgewater has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Failing to Comply with a Release Order. Swinimer was remanded into custody and will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on May 25.

A 33-year-old Gold River woman, is facing a charge of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. She was later released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on June 7, 2023 and 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.

The South Shore Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit is made up of members from the Lunenburg County RCMP and Bridgwater Police Service. The South Shore Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit was assisted in the investigation by the Criminal Intelligence Service of Nova Scotia and the Lunenburg County RCMP.

Police charge Lunenburg County woman with drug trafficking

The South Shore Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit has laid charges through an investigation into cocaine trafficking in Lunenburg County.

On May 2, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Indian Point and arrested Melissa Young without incident. Officers seized a quantity of cocaine, hydromorphone, cash, sensory irritant, knives and cell phones.

The 41-year-old from Indian Point has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Failing to Comply with a Release Order and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace.

Young was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on July 5 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.

The South Shore Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit is made up of members from the Lunenburg County RCMP and Bridgwater Police Service, and were assisting in the investigation by members of the Criminal Intelligence Service of Nova Scotia and the Lunenburg County RCMP.
