Helping Animals Find their “Fur”ever Homes

Funding from PetSmart Charities of Canada™ aided adoptions

“It is very important that animals receive a spay or neuter prior to adoption,” says Sandra Flemming, Director of Animal Care. “The Nova Scotia SPCA provides shelter pets with vaccines, flea and tick treatment, microchips, spay or neuter surgeries, and treatment of immediate medical concerns. This makes pet adoptions more affordable for families. And while adoption fees cover a small portion of the actual costs we incur, it is community support from donations, and grants from partners like PetSmart Charities of Canada™, that help to offset the total cost of care.”

“Helping homeless pets find homes is a cornerstone of our mission, and we’re proud to support pets in need in a variety of ways,” said Andrew Fraser, Adoptions Grants Manager at PetSmart Charities of Canada. “Helping prepare pets for adoption with grants like this is just one way we can ensure even more pets find loving homes.”
