Feature Companion: Rascal, 4 Year-Old Male
Rascal came to us from the SPCA as part of their TNR program on June 5th of this year. As one of the current longest residents at Bide Awhile, Rascal is looking forward to the day when he meets his forever family.
While we originally believed Rascal was a shy and reserved cat, in the past couple of weeks he has proved us wrong. He has blossomed into a loving and affectionate cat who really enjoys the attention of humans. He’ll strut around the treatment room, purring and meowing to let you know that he is there and is ready for you to love him.
Rascal is the type of cat that is grateful for the second chance in life he’s been given. Having come to the shelter world as a stray, this new life of being loved and cared for has brought out a part of him that makes him a great companion.
Unfortunately, Rascal is unable to be moved into our main cat rooms at the shelter because he is positive for FIV, a virus specific to the cat species that attacks and weakens the immune system, sadly there is no cure. With this virus being transmittable between cats, Rascal needs a home where he is the only cat.
Because Rascal is not living in our main cat room, he can often be overlooked by potential adopters. We know Rascal will be a loving and appreciative companion to his new family and we’re all hoping that he finds his forever home soon.
