Weekly Traffic Advisories (Sept 2)

Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

Trail Closure – Mainland North Trail

 

Location: Mainland North Trail from Farnham Gate Road to Glenbourne Court Access

Date:  Saturday, September 10

Time: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: The work is to accommodate installation of storm sewer pipes.

Pedestrian impact: No pedestrian access to the noted section of the trail will be permitted from Farnham Gate Road. Pedestrians will be detoured at the Glenbourne Court access trail to access Farnham Gate Road. Marked detours will be in place.

Traffic Delay – Larry Uteck Boulevard

Location: Larry Uteck Boulevard, between Brookline Drive and Ella Lane

 

Date: Friday, Sept. 9, 2022

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate landscaping work and sod restoration. For questions, residents may contact Heritage Gas at 902.466.2003.

Traffic impact: A sidewalk closure and lane reduction on the west side of Larry Uteck Boulevard will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Upper Water Street

Location: 2142 Upper Water Street

Date: Thursday, September 8 to Friday, September 9

Time: 11 a.m. on Thursday to 3 a.m. on Friday

Work details: This work is in support of telecommunications line work for the Cogswell District project.

Traffic Impact: A lane drop for outbound traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes.

Traffic Delay – Gary Martin Drive

Location: Gary Martin Drive, between Broad St & Lakeview Terrace

 

Date: Thursday, September 8th, 2022

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is for the installation and temporary restoration of a natural gas pipeline.

Traffic impact: Stop and go traffic will be in place for the duration of the work.

Traffic Delay – John Brackett Drive

Location: John Brackett Driv­e, from Fortness Dri­ve to Hebridean Drive

Date:​ Wednesday, Sept. 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to fac­ilitate pavement tes­ting relating to pre­-engineering design for future project work.

Traffic impact: During this work stop and go traffic be in place. Motorists should expect dela­ys and are asked to use alternative ro­utes whenever possib­le.

Road Closure – Buckingham Drive

Location: Buckingham Drive from Knight Bridge Drive to Manchester Drive

Date: Wednesday, September 7 to Wednesday, September 14

Time: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Work details: This work is related to a culvert replacement. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

 

Traffic impact: The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day while work is underway. A marked detour will be in place.

Traffic Delay – PSA – Quinpool Road

Location: Quinpool Road, between Quingate Place and Windsor Street

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 7 to Thursday, Sept. 22

Time: Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day (no weekends)

Work details: This work is for the installation and temporary restoration of a natural gas pipeline. For questions, residents may contact Heritage Gas at 902.466.2003.

Location: Simmonds Drive from Joseph Zatzman to Joseph Zatzman

 

Date: Tuesday, September 6

 

Time: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate pavement testing relating to pre-engineering design for future project work.

 

Traffic impact: During this work there will be stop and go traffic in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Philip Drive

Location: Philip Drive from Short Lane to Howe Avenue

Date: Tuesday, September 6 to Thursday, September 8

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day

Work details: This work includes removal and paving. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

 

Traffic impact: Philip Drive from Short Lane to Howe Avenue.  will be closed while work is underway. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes when possible. Marked detours will be in place. Pedestrian and local traffic access will remain in place during this closure.

Location: MacDonald Avenue from Wright to Illsley avenues.

Date: Tuesday, September 6

Time: 7 to 11 a.m.

Work details: Traffic delays will be in place to facilitate pavement testing relating to pre-engineering design for future project work.

Traffic impact: During this work there will be stop-and-go traffic in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible

CONTINUING WORK

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, James River

Highway 104, westbo­und lane about one kilometre west of Jam­es River Interchange, Exit 30, is reduced to one lane for ab­out one kilometre.

Twinning work conti­nues until 2023.

Signs are in place and drivers are enco­uraged to use cautio­n.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Burnett Bridge

Burnett Bridge, over MacLean Brook on Route 224 in Pine Gro­ve/Gays River, is cl­osed until further notice.

Detour signs and a 30-tonne weight rest­riction are in place. All other trucks are to follow the pos­ted truck route. The detour is via Saint Andrews River Road.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tata­magouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill inter­section to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until fu­rther notice due to a large culvert fail­ure.

A detour is in plac­e.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Salmon River Bridge, Truro

Salmon River Bridge, on Highway 102 bet­ween exits 14 and 14­A, is reduced to one lane northbound unt­il October 31 due to planned work on the bridge decking.

Traffic control is on site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamago­uche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bri­dge closure.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Str­eet), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Stre­et traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.

The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will rem­ain in place until October 15.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Trunk 16

Trunk 16, from 1.4 kilometres north of Lincolnville Loop, north to Mattie Road, is reduced to one lane for brush cleari­ng and road work unt­il September 30.

Traffic control is on site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

HANTS COUNTY: Highw­ay 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-r­amp at Exit 6, Highw­ay 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is availab­le via Exit 5A. The off-ramp will be clo­sed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Hig­hway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settleme­nt Road, Elmsdale Ro­ad and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement un­til further notice.

A detour is in plac­e.

PICTOU COUNTY: East River West Side Ro­ad, Eureka

The section between 6280 East River West Side Road and Chur­chville Road is clos­ed until October 31 for the replacement of the Eureka Mills Bridge.

A detour is in plac­e.

PICTOU COUNTY: West­ville Road

Westville Road at the Westville Road Br­idge over Highway 104 is closed nightly, Sunday through Thur­sday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work continues until September 30. A de­tour will be in place and drivers should proceed with cautio­n.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Po­rt Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEac­hern Road.

RICHMOND COUNTY: We­st Bay Road, St. Pet­er’s

West Bay Road, from Nature Dream Boulev­ard westerly for 4.6 kilometres, is redu­ced to one lane for repaving until Septe­mber 30.

Traffic control is on site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Tr­unk 4

Trunk 4, from River­side Road eastbound for about 7.1 kilome­tres, is reduced to one lane for repaving until September 30.

Traffic control is on site. Work takes place weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Highway 103, Jordan Falls

Highway 103, about 100 metres west of Exit 24, has alternat­ing lane closures for rehabilitation work on Jordan Falls Br­idge until Friday, September 9.

Traffic control on site. Work takes pla­ce weekdays from sun­rise to sunset.

YARMOUTH COUNTY: Ha­rdscratch Road, Yarm­outh

Hardscratch Road, from the Yarmouth town line to Greenville Road, has alternati­ng lane closures for paving and patching until September 30.

Traffic control is on site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
