Weekly Traffic Advisories (June 4)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104, Afton

Highway 104, between Exits 36B and 36C, will be reduced to one lane for roadwork from Monday, June 7, until Friday, June 18.

Traffic control in place 24 hours per day.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Exit 11, Highway 118 Southbound

The Exit 11 ramp on Highway 118, southbound, will be closed to carry out bridge work on Highway 111 at the Woodland Overpass.

Work will take place from Wednesday, June 9, to Saturday, June 12, at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Detour via Highway 118 takes vehicles off at Wright Avenue onto Highway 111.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Falmouth

Highway 101 at Exit 7, westbound off-ramp Valley-bound, will be closed for roadwork until Friday, June 11.

Detour route is via Exit 8A and Highway 101.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Beaver Harbour Road, Beaver Harbour

Beaver Harbour Road, from Trunk 7 southerly for three kilometres, is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road, is closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, is reduced to one lane for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between Exit 9 and 10, has alternating lane closures for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103, Camperdown School Road, Camperdown

Highway 103, from Camperdown School Road, Camperdown, to Queens County line, has alternating lane closures for repaving and upgrading until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic controls consist of stop and go traffic. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104, Eastbound Lanes

Highway 104 eastbound between Exit 20 and 21 is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, August 31.
Work takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury

Highway 104, 880 metres west of Exit 44 for about 2.7 kilometres westerly, is reduced to one lane for paving until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic control will be on site. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Road Closure – Meadowlark Crescent​

Location: Meadowlark Crescent from Lincoln Cross to Eagle Crescent

Date: Friday, June 11

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. ​

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Marked detours will be in place. Local and pedestrian access will be maintained. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Bradorian Drive

Location: Bradorian Drive between Auburn Drive and Auburn Drive

Date:​ Thursday, June 10

Time:​ 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.​

Work details: This work is to accommodate road rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Knightsridge Drive

Location: 175 Knightsridge Drive to Camelot Lane

Date:​ Thursday, June 10

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​

Work details: This work is to accommodate road rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible

Location: 175 Knightsridge Drive to Camelot Lane

Date:​ Thursday, June 10

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​

Work details: This work is to accommodate road rehabilitation.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Bedford Highway at Flamingo Drive

Location: Bedford Highway at Flamingo Drive

Date: Thursday, June 10

Time: Crews will be on site from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Work details: This work is to accommodate asphalt milling

Traffic impact: Traffic signals will be shut down while work is underway. Traffic control personnel will be in place.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Purcells Cove Road

Location: Purcells Cove Road, between Williams Lake and 375 Purcells Cove roads

Date:​ Tuesday, June 8 and Wednesday, June 9

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.​

Work details: This work is to accommodate road rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Rutledge Street

Location: Rutledge Street from Bedford Highway to Basinview Drive

Date:​ Monday, June 7

Time:​ 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.​

Work details: This work is related to asphalt paving.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Bedford Highway

Location: Bedford Highway and Flamingo Drive intersection

Date: Saturday, June 5

Time: Crews will be on site from 7 am until noon.

Work details: This work is related to asphalt milling.

Traffic impact: Traffic signals will be shut down while work is underway. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct traffic.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delays – Summer Street

Location: Summer Street between Bell Road and Veterans Memorial Lane

Date: Now until mid-September ​

Time:​ 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays

Work details: Work within the street is required to facilitate the construction of a parkade for the Halifax Infirmary including installation of underground services by the Province of Nova Scotia.

Traffic Delay – Saint Margarets Bay Road

Location: ​ Saint Margarets Bay Road, near the intersection of Fenwood and Fenerty road

Date: ​ Saturday, June 5

Time:​ 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This work is to facilitate structural repair to the sewer line.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place on Saint Margarets Bay Road. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes whenever possible.

The sidewalk on the east side between Fenwood Road and Crescent Avenue will be closed. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct pedestrian traffic around the work site as necessary.

Construction during COVID-19:​ Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.
