Police charge man for firearms offences
Police have charged a man in relation to an ongoing firearms investigation.
On March 4, the Guns and Gangs Unit of the Integrated Special Enforcement Section obtained a warrant and searched two addresses in Halifax in relation to an ongoing investigation to confirm that 11 restricted firearms were not in the possession of the registered owner. No firearms were located during the searches and the investigation revealed that the 11 firearms were not in the possession of the registered owner.
Curtis Frederick Samson, 35, is facing charges of:
- Possession of a firearm at an unauthorized place other than a place indicated on the authorization/license as a place where it may be possessed (x 11)
- Possession of a firearm at an unauthorized place other than a place where it may be possessed under the Firearms Act (x 11)
- Lost a firearm and not reporting it within reasonable dispatch to a peace officer, firearms officer or chief firearms officer (x 11)
The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP charge man with firearms offences after break-in
Lunenburg District RCMP has charged a man with firearms offences after a break-in at a home on Keddy Bridge Rd. in Oakland.
On March 5, at approximately 5:25 p.m., police responded to a report of a man walking on Keddy Bridge Rd. in Oakland with what appeared to be a firearm stock sticking out of a backpack. Upon arrival, police determined that a home on Keddy Bridge Rd. had been broken into and firearms had been stolen from the home.
RCMP Police Dog Services, with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team, attended and the police dog successfully tracked the man that had been walking with the backpack to another home on Keddy Bridge Rd. Police secured the area around the home and began negotiating with the occupants. Three people eventually exited the home and were all taken into custody safely. Police later executed a search warrant on the home and seized two rifles that had been stolen from the residence.
Christopher David John Dixon, 43, of Oakland, has been charged with Breaking and Entering to Steal a Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. Dixon was remanded into custody and will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on March 7, 2022.
The other two people that were arrested were later released without charges.
