UPDATE: Shelburne County man second to be charged in fish plant arson

The RCMP has charged a​ 29-year-old Shelburne County man with arson in relation to a fire at a fish plant in Middle West Pubnico.

Near midnight on October​ 16,​ 2020, Yarmouth County RCMP responded to a building fire at a fish plant in Middle West Pubnico. The fish plant was completely destroyed by the fire. It was unoccupied at the time. Investigators determined that the fire was the result of arson and identified a suspect in the incident.

On September 8,​ 2021, police arrested Sean Roy Messenger,​ 29, of Shelburne County, without incident. Messenger has been charged with Arson under section​ 434​ of the Criminal Code. Messenger was released on a promise to appear before a Judge in Yarmouth Provincial Court on November 29, 2021.
