On Sept. 2, 1998, 229 souls boarded Swissair Flight 111. Tragedy struck shortly after take off and the plane crashed into the ocean killing everyone onboard.
From Peggy’s Cove and surrounding a massive operation scrambled for a hopeful rescue quickly realized to be recovery operations.
Many people were affected by this crash along with family, including residents of the area, first responders, military members and volunteers who worked tirelessly in various roles after the tragic event.
