Weekly Traffic Advisories (June 25)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

Public Service Announcement

Road Construction – Wilkinson Avenue and Cutler Avenue

Location: ​ Wilkinson Avenue (Jennette Ave to Cutler Ave) and Cutler Avenue (Wilkinson Ave to Jim Connors Ave)

Date: ​ July 5 to August 17

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. ​

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: During this project, work will be taking place on both streets concurrently.​ There will be lane drops in place while work is underway.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Gottingen Street

Location: ​ Gottingen Street from North to Almon streets

Date:​ Thursday, July 1

Time:​ 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This work is to accommodate asphalt paving

Traffic impact: Gottingen Street will be closed in both directions.​ Local traffic will be accommodated.​ A marked detour will be in place. ​ During this work the traffic signals at the intersection of Gottingen and Almon Street will be shut down.​ Traffic control will be in place to direct traffic and pedestrians.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – South Park Street

Location: 1471 to 1475 South Park streets, between Spring Garden Road and Clyde Street

Date:​ Wednesday, June 30, Thursday, July 1, Monday July 5 and Tuesday, July 6

Time: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is to facilitate the reinstatement of the sidewalk.

Traffic impact: The bike lane, and three parking spots, adjacent to 1471 to 1475 South Park streets will be closed while work is underway (between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.). Bike lane closure signage will be in place. A partial sidewalk will remain open, and pedestrians will be guided around the work site as necessary.

Traffic Delay – Larry Uteck Boulevard

Location: Larry Uteck Boulevard, from the intersection of Bluewater Road to Broad Street

Date:​ Wednesday, June 30, then from Monday, July 5 to Wednesday, July 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is related to natural gas pipeline installation and restoration.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway, with one lane of traffic maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Robie Street

Location: Robie Street from Young Street to Massachusetts Avenue – Outbound Lane

Date: Wednesday, June 30 ​

Time: 9 a.m. to noon ​

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: During this work, there will be a lane drop in place in the right hand outbound lane.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Waverley Road, near the Silverside Drive intersection

Date:​ Tuesday, June 29 and Wednesday, June 30

Time: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is related to guide rail installation.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Joseph Howe Drive

Location: Joseph Howe Drive between Springvale and Lexington avenues

Date:​ Monday June 28 and Tuesday, June 29

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​ each day

Work details: This work is to accommodate road rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Swan Crescent and Eagle Crescent

Location: Swan Crescent from Kingfisher Crescent to the cul-de-sac and Eagle Crescent from Swan to Meadowlark crescents.

Date: Monday, June 28 ​

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. ​

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: During this work, there will be lane drops in place with occasional stop-and-go traffic.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Meadowlark Crescent​

Location: Meadowlark Crescent from Lincoln Cross to Eagle Crescent

Date: Monday, June 28 ​

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This closure is to accommodate pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Marked detours will be in place while work is underway. Local and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Purcells Cove Road, between Williams Lake and 2490 Purcells Cove roads

Date:​ Monday June 21 and Tuesday, June 22

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.​ each day

Work details: This work is to accommodate road rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible

Traffic Delay – Bedford Highway

Location: 612 Bedford Highway

Date: Saturday, June 26

Time: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: Natural gas pipeline installation

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​ ​

Road Closure – Lower Water Street

Location: Lower Water Street from Morris to Bishop streets

Date:​ Saturday, June 26 to Sunday, June 27

Time:​ 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.​

Work details: This work is to facilitate hydro excavation of the water main.

Traffic impact: Traffic personnel will be on site and a marked detour will be in place. Local access will be maintained. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Construction during COVID-19:​ Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.

**** TRANSPORTATION Media Release

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Beaver Harbour Road, Beaver Harbour

Beaver Harbour Road, from Trunk 7 southerly for three kilometres, is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road, is closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, is reduced to one lane for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between Exits 9 and 10, has alternating lane closures for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103, Camperdown School Road, Camperdown

Highway 103, from Camperdown School Road, Camperdown, to Queens County line, has alternating lane closures for repaving and upgrading until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic controls consist of stop and go traffic. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104, Eastbound Lanes

Highway 104 eastbound between Exits 20 and 21 is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury

Highway 104, 880 metres west of Exit 44 for about 2.7 kilometres westerly, is reduced to one lane for paving until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic control is on site. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

ANTIGONISH: Highway 104, Frankville

Highway 104, from Tracadie Harbour Bridge to the Frankville Overpass, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Thursday, July 22.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

ANTIGONISH: Highway 104, Afton

Highway 104, from Exit 36A to the Gorman Road, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Thursday, July 22.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.
