Police respond to calls of alleged violations of the Health Protection Act overnight and issue tickets for violations.

Halifax Regional Police overnight responded to 17 calls from concerned citizens for potential violations of the recently updated Health Proection Act regulations mandated by the province on April 23rd.​ ​

Most were found to be in compliance with regulations.

At 9:30 p.m. police did though, respond to a complaint of a gathering at a dwelling in the 1900 block of Brunswick Street Halifax, where it was suspected that persons were​ exceeding the provincially mandated gathering limits.​

2 men were issued summary offence tickets for violating 71(1)(b) of the Health Protection Act which carries a fine of $1,000.

HRP is reminding everyone to follow the current public health measures related to the Covid-19 emergency.​

We strongly advise members of the public to educate and re-educate themselves on these public health directives and COVID-19 enforcement measures, including, those related to illegal gatherings and associated fines. ​
