Police Investigate Arson – Bedford

At 11:15 p.m., on the 1st of March, Halifax Regional Police and HRM Fire & Emergency responded to a fire alarm inside an apartment building at 201 Rutledge Street Bedford.​ Multiple callers reported smoke inside the building.​

Numerous tenants evacuated the building.​ HRM Fire & Emergency located a fire in a stairwell and quickly extinguished it.​ No one was injured and all tenants were able to return to home.​

Fire Investigators confirmed the fire was intentionally set and the arson investigation has been turned over to police.​ The investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing.​ Police will remain on scene for the Forensic Identification Section to process the scene in day light.​ ​
