Two stunting drivers charged in Cape Breton
On May 30, a member of the RCMP’s North East Traffic Services in Cape Breton charged two drivers for stunting. Both drivers’ vehicles were towed, their licences suspended, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days. Each driver was fined $2,422.50.
- At 6:39 p.m., a black Toyota Camry was observed to be travelling at 164 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone, 64 km/hr above the posted speed limit. The driver was a 20-year-old man from Brampton, Ontario. The vehicle was stopped on Hwy. 125 near Exit 5, Coxheath.
- At 8:58 p.m., a black Suzuki motorcycle was observed to be travelling at 172 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone, 72 km/hr above the posted speed limit. The driver was a 23-year-old man from Aspy Bay, Nova Scotia. In addition to Stunting, the driver was charged with Operating an Unregistered Vehicle and Driving a Motorcycle Without a Motorcycle Licence. The vehicle was stopped on Hwy. 105 near Dalem Lake.
The RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road Safety is a priority for the RCMP, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.
