Update: vehicle pedestrian collision

Police are no longer on scene at Burnside Drive and the roadway is now open to traffic.

The incident remains under investigation and we thank the public for their cooperation.

 

Update – Police on scene of vehicle pedestrian collision

Halifax Regional Police is on scene of a vehicle pedestrian collision that occurred in Dartmouth this morning.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of an injured person in the area of Burnside Drive and Highfield Park Drive. A pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle at that location. The pedestrian a, 55-year-old-man, has been taken to hospital for what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.

Officers, along with the Collison Reconstruction Unit, are expected to remain on scene for an extended period of time. There is no access to Highway 111 from Burnside Drive and traffic is being redirected. We are asking the public to take alternate routes to avoid delays.

Police are currently on scene of a pedestrian vs motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Burnside Drive/Highfield Park Drive overpass intersection.

The west bound ramp has been closed down at this location.  Traffic is asked to avoid the area if possible until the investigation is complete.

A further release will be complete when the condition of the pedestrian is known.
