On this day in 2001 the New York skyline changed forever as two aircraft were flown into the twin towers. Many lives were lost in the attack, including first responders, and a long running war was triggered.
The Halifax airport responded by hosting diverted flights (as seen in this photo via the HIAA). Halifax provided shelter in a time of great uncertainty and terror.
