Weekly Traffic Advisories (Sept 11)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Highway 102 Southbound

Highway 102 southbound is reduced to one lane of traffic between Highway 104 to Exit 13 from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. until Wednesday, Sept. 30.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Bedford Bypass

Work resumes on Monday, Sept. 14 for a repaving and guardrail project taking place on the Bedford Bypass westbound lanes, from the exit to Dartmouth Road to the overpass near the intersection of Highway 101.

Repairs will also be carried out to the structures over Memory Lane, Rocky Lake Drive and Highway 102 from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should expect delays.

A detour will be in place for traffic bound for Highway 101. Traffic will be rerouted to Cobequid Road, Glendale Avenue, Highway 102 and Highway 101.

The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Sept. 18.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road in Meaghers Grant, will be closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer 2021.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall 2021.

KINGS COUNTY: Highway 101, Morden Road Overpass

The Morden Road overpass on Highway 101, near Aylesford, is reduced to one lane for repaving until Thursday, Oct. 15.

Caldwell Road – Traffic Delay

Friday, September 18, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on Caldwell Road, from Hampton Green to Nova Terrace, on Sunday, September 20.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to noon. Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Woodlawn Road – Traffic Delay

Friday, September 18, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on Woodlawn Road, from Mount Edward Road to Portland Street, on Sunday, September 20.

Crews will be on site from noon to 6 p.m. Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Hammonds Plains Road – Road Construction

Wednesday, September 16, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Hammonds Plains Road, between Northwood Road and Westwood Boulevard, on Thursday, September 17. Monday, September 21.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Chebucto Road – Traffic Delay

Friday, September 18, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on Chebucto Road, between North and Connolly streets, from Monday, September 21 to Tuesday, September 22.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Richmond and Barrington streets – Traffic Delay

Friday, September 18, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on the corner of Richmond and Barrington streets on Saturday, September 19.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Bedford Highway – Traffic Delay

Friday, September 18, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on the Bedford Highway, between Seton Road and Sherbrook Drive, on Saturday, September 19.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Windmill Road – Road Construction

Thursday, September 17, 2020 (Halifax)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Windmill Road, between Dawson Street and Victoria Road, on Friday, September 18.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.​ Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Herring Cove Road – Road Construction

Thursday, September 17, 2020 (Halifax)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Herring Cove Road, between Sylvia Avenue and Civic 565, on Friday, September 18, weather permitting.​ ​

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Robie Street – Road Construction

Monday, September 14, 2020 (Halifax)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Robie Street, between Almon and North streets, from Monday, September 14 to Wednesday, September 16 on Thursday, September 17. This work will require the traffic signals to be shut down at the intersection of Almon and Robie streets on Monday, September 14, and at the intersection of North and Robie streets. on Tuesday, September 15.

Crews will be on site from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. each day. Traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary while work is underway.

Ochterloney Street – Road Construction

Friday, September 11, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Ochterloney Street, between Alderney Drive Dundas and Maple streets, from Monday, September 14 to Wednesday, September 16 on Thursday, September 17.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will return from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.​ each day Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Thomas Raddall Drive, from Lacewood​ to Regency Park drives, on Wednesday, September 16.

Crews will be on site from 10 a.m. to noon.​ Stop-and-go traffic​ will be in place while work is underway.

Farnham Gate Road – Road Construction

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Farnham Gate Road, between from Dunbrack Street and Parkland Drive, on Wednesday, September 16.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.​ Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.

Sackville Drive – Road Construction

Tuesday, September 15, 2020 (Halifax)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Sackville Drive, between Beaverbank Road and Millwood Drive, from Tuesday, September 15 to Wednesday, September 16.​ ​

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.

Dunbrack Street – Traffic Delay

Monday, Sept. 14, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that beginning Tuesday, Sept. 15, lane drops will be in place on Dunbrack Street between Kearney Lake Road and Main Avenue to accommodate maintenance to the rose bushes located in the median.

Work will include weeding, mulching, general litter cleanup and pruning to a height of three feet for increased visibility and plant health.

Robie Street – Road Construction

Monday, September 14, 2020 (Halifax)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Robie Street, between Almon and North streets, from Monday, September 14 to Wednesday, September 16. This work will require the traffic signals to be shut down at the intersection of Almon and Robie streets on Monday, September 14, and at the intersection of North and Robie streets on Tuesday, September 15.

Crews will be on site from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. each day. Traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary while work is underway.

Road Closure – South Park Street

Friday, September 9, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of road construction on South Park Street, from Spring Garden Road to Sackville Street, beginning Monday, September 14.

Road construction: September 14 to 16

  • Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
  • Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Full road closure: September 17 to late November/early December

  • Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with occasional work on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ​ ​
  • A marked detour will be in place (see map for details).

Access to businesses in the area will be maintained at all times.

Bike lanes and all on-street parking will be temporarily removed during this work. Halifax Transit routes will not be impacted.

This work is required as part of phase two of the South Park Street protected bicycle lanes project which involves the construction of one-way protected bicycle lanes on each side of South Park Street within the work site. The South Park Street protected bicycle lanes were approved by Halifax Regional Council in March 2018 as part of the Regional Centre Cycling Network outlined in the Integrated Mobility Plan. The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Ochterloney Street, between Alderney Drive and Maple Street, from Monday, September 14 to Wednesday, September 16.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will return from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.​ each day Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Robie Street – Road Construction

Friday, September 11 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Robie Street, between Cunard Street and Quinpool Road, on Monday, September 14.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.​ Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. During this work there may be short delays to access driveways

Young and Robie streets – Road Construction ​

Friday, Sept. 11, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Young and Robie Streets on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Crews will be on Young Street between Windsor and Robie streets and on Robie Street between Young and Almon streets from noon until 7 p.m. Residents should expect short delays accessing driveways on these streets.

Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.

Chebucto Road – Traffic Delay

Friday, September 11, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to expect delays on Chebucto Road, at the Connolly Street intersection, on Saturday, September 12.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Berlin and Oxford streets – Road Closure

Friday, September 11, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the intersection at Berlin and Oxford streets will be closed on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. A marked detour will be in place while work is underway. Pedestrian traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.​

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Your patience is appreciated while this work is completed.

Construction During COVID-19: Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to provide at least two metres of physical distancing.

**** Halifax Water Release

Lucasville Road – Paving Work

(Thursday, September 17, 2020) ARCP Limited, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be completing paving work on Lucasville Road related to previous culvert replacements.

This work will take place from 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2020 (weather dependant). Lucasville Road will be reduced to one lane, stop and go traffic in the work zone; see attached map.

Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.
