NSHA advising potential COVID-19 exposure at Halifax Regional Municipality community centre
NSHA Public Health is advising of a potential public exposure to COVID-19 on March 14 at Lake Echo Community Centre (3168A Highway #7, Lake Echo).
The gathering was a public event related to St. Patrick’s Day with approximately 50 people in attendance. Public Health has been directly contacting attendees to advise on self-isolation protocols and next steps.
While most people have been contacted, there could be some attendees Public Health is not aware of or contact information may have changed for individuals.
It is anticipated anyone exposed to the virus at this March 14 event may develop symptoms up to, and including, March 28, 2020.
COVID-19 symptoms include:
- Fever
- Cough
- Difficulty breathing
- Pneumonia
If you have COVID-19 symptoms:
- Take the COVID-19 online self-assessment questionnaire to determine if you need to call 811.
- If needed, call 811 for assessment. Please self-isolate until you receive 811 advice on next steps.
- Do not go directly to a COVID-19 assessment centre without being directed to do so by 811.
All Nova Scotians are advised to continue monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms and are urged to follow Public Health guidelines on how to access care. Up to date information about COVID-19 is available at novascotia.ca/coronavirus
