HRP reminds everyone to be responsible neighbours
Each year, our region welcomes thousands of students in September. Halifax Regional Police would like to remind everyone to do their part to help maintain a positive quality of life in our neighbourhoods.
The major neighbourhood concern is often noise, but police also receive complaints about liquor offences, property damage and by-law offences. Disruptive behavior is not acceptable. As a Halifax resident, everyone is expected to take responsibility and do their part to ensure their actions don’t negatively impact the quality of life in our communities. Residents are also reminded to follow social distancing and gathering rules as per the covid-19 public health orders.
Halifax Regional Police takes an approach that includes education, outreach and enforcement as necessary. There are penalties for violations and warnings do not need to be given prior to a ticket being issued. Citizens are encouraged to get educated about common offences and accompanying fines by visiting: http://www.halifax.ca/fire-police/police/crime-prevention-tips/quality-life-post-secondary-neighbourhoods.
To report any concerns about quality of life issues, such as noise, public impairment or public health violations, call police at 902.490.5016.
