These two orphaned baby raccoons were brought in last week after their mom was hit by a car. They may be the last baby raccoons we receive for the year, and they will grow up with us over the winter. Thankfully, they have each other for company and to talk to.
And do they ever talk! Even by typical mammalian standards, raccoons are a very chatty bunch. They have a huge number of different vocalizations covering a wide range of contexts and purposes. They can make a wide variation of whistles, squeals, crys, screeches, grunts, snorts, geckers, barks, and growls. Along with chittering, churring, and purring they can talk up a storm!
