Escaped inmate arrested
RCMP has arrested the inmate who escape from the Northeast Nova Scotia Correctional Facility last evening.
Kevin Edward Clarke-McNeil escaped the Northeast Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Pictou County last evening and was arrested this morning at approximately 9:45 a.m. east of Sheet Harbour in Halifax Regional Municipality.
At 8:27 a.m. this morning Guysborough RCMP received a report of a suspicious fire shortly followed by further reports of an ATV on a roadway and a stolen ATV all within Guysborough County. Through a coordinated effort with RCMP in Halifax District and a short pursuit by police, Clarke-McNeil was apprehended on the MacDonald Cove Road.
Minor non-life threatening injuries were incurred by Clarke-McNeil in this incident.

Inmate in Custody

The inmate who escaped from the Northeast Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Pictou County, Friday, June 5, is now in police custody.
“I would like to thank law enforcement for their efforts in apprehending this individual, and the public for their co-operation in providing information and tips,” said Mark Furey, Minister of Justice and Attorney General for Nova Scotia.
The inmate, Kevin Edward Clarke-McNeil, has been on remand at the facility since December 2019 on several charges, including attempted murder, unlawful confinement, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.
Correctional Services is conducting a full review of this incident.

Update 12:47 am 2020-06-06: the RCMP continues the search for Clarke-McNeil. RCMP Police Dog Services and New Glasgow Police have been assisting.
Update 11:11 2020-06-05 – Clarke-McNeil has tattoos on the upper portion of both arms.
Update 10:50 pm 2020-06-05: Clarke-McNeil is 200 pounds and was not wearing a shirt when he was last seen.
Update 10:38 PM 2020-06-05: Clarke-McNeil escaped at approx 8:43 pm, may be attempting to return to the Halifax area and is thought to be on foot. He was incarcerated due to serious charges including Attempted Murder. Do not contact or approach.
