Attempted Murder charges laid following disturbance


On June 28 just after 9 p.m., members of Annapolis District RCMP responded to a call of a disturbance at a camp ground on Highway 1 in Granville Ferry. Police learned that following a dispute, a man dragged a woman towards a river​ and assaulted her, while holding her head under water. A number of people intervened.

The victim was taken to hospital with what is believed to be moderate physical injuries. The accused was held in custody until a court appearance on June 29, where he was remanded.

Alexander Jacob O’Grady, 30, of Bedford, has been charged with​ Attempted Murder, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Choking​ or Strangling​ While Committing an Assault, Overcoming Resistance by Suffocating.

He is scheduled to return to court today.​
