Police charge second man in the homicide of Anthony Charles Johnson
Investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged a second man in relation to the homicide of Anthony Charles Johnson.
At 11:30 p.m. on January 26, 2020, Halifax Regional Police responded to the area of Connaught and Chisholm avenues in Halifax to a report of a man who had been shot. Officers located Anthony Charles Johnson, 31, of Halifax, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remained until he passed away on February 6. Anthony’s death was deemed a homicide by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.
On September 17 officers arrested Justin Gregory Miller, 39, of Dartmouth, in the area Mic Mac Boulevard in Dartmouth without incident. Yesterday, investigators charged Miller with first-degree murder in relation to Anthony’s homicide. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face the charge.
On April 22, investigators travelled to Toronto, Ontario, and with the assistance of members of Toronto Police Service, arrested Shondell James Ogden, 30, at the Toronto South Detention Center. Ogden was transported back to Halifax and appeared in court on April 23 to face a charge of first-degree murder in Anthony’s death.
We hope the charge that was laid brings some measure of comfort to Anthony’s family and loved ones. They continue to remain in our thoughts.
