Colchester County District RCMP arrest man for firearms offences

Colchester County District RCMP has arrested a man for firearms offences after an incident in Cloverdale.

On July 1, 2023, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Colchester County District RCMP responded to a report of a man pointing a firearm at another man near Hemlock Loop in Cloverdale. RCMP officers learned that the victim had been using a Sea Doo on the Stewiacke River when he observed a male near the river bank yelling and pointing a rifle at him. The rifle was not discharged and the victim was not injured in this incident.

RCMP officers located the suspect at a home on Hemlock Loop and safely arrested him. The man was transported to the Bible Hill Detachment.

RCMP officers executed a search warrant on the home and seized rifles, shotguns, a pistol and ammunition.

The 47-year-old Brookfield man, who was arrested, has since been released on conditions and will be facing charges of Pointing a Firearm, Careless Use of a Firearm and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm. The man will appear in Truro Provincial Court on August 30, 2023.

Police lay threats charges

Police have charged a man in relation to an incident that occurred on a Halifax Transit bus last week in Halifax.

On June 30, at approximately 10:50 a.m. police responded to a report of threats in the area of the Halifax Transit Lacewood Terminal on Lacewood Drive. A man with a knife entered a bus that was parked at the terminal, threatened a group of youths who were not known to him and then left the area on foot. No one was physically injured during the incident.

Officers arrested the man in the area a short time later without further incident.

A 25-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face three counts of threats and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
