Municipality invites residents to participate in Bedford Days 2023
The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to participate in the ongoing Bedford Days 2023.
This annual community event began on National Indigenous Peoples’ Day – Wednesday, June 21 and will conclude on Canada Day – Saturday, July 1. It is supported by the Bedford Days Committee, composed of community members.
Programming includes cultural, musical, and family-based activities.
The municipality is attentive to safety concerns related to fireworks and remains in consultation with Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency on this issue. The municipality would also like to reassure residents that there are measures in place to ensure the fireworks used at municipal events are used in a safe manner and in accordance with any relevant fire regulations.
As always, the status of fireworks for events is subject to change. Notification of changes will be shared via the municipality’s Civic Events’ Facebook page and Twitter channel.
Wednesday June 21
- National Indigenous Peoples Day | Sunnyside Mall
- Indigenous art is being displayed in the Sunnyside Mall from June 21 until June 27 during mall hours
Saturday June 24
- Bedford Days Market** | Dewolf Park | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- A beautiful, curated selection of multiple vendors dedicated to our Bedford Days celebrations; items require purchase.

- The Great Bedford Race hosted by Choice Health Centre Bedford and The Chickenburger
- Meet at Choice Health Centre Bedford by 10:00 a.m.
- Race 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Grand prize drawn at 12:30pm)
- In conjunction with 30 Minute HIT Bedford, Eastcoast Scuba & Watersports and Izzy’s Bagels. Explore Bedford by racing through downtown completing challenges and figuring out clues that lead you to a final destination where prizes donated by local businesses will be given out!

- Scott Manor House – Georgian Social** | Scott Manor House, 15 Fort Sackville Road | 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Fort Sackville Foundation is pleased to invite the public to a Georgian Social. Enjoy performances of the pipes and drums of the Clan Farqhuarson while we will be serving lemonade and our famous home- baked oatcake cookie.
- Rouge & Blanc (19+ food and wine event) | Sunnyside Mall | 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Sunday June 25
- Healthy Lifestyle Day** | DeWolf Park | 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Join us in one of the fitness events and get inspired. The instructors will show you ways to work on your health and have fun at the same time.
- 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Zumba with Laura Irons – Zumba® takes the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party! Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise! No dance experience required!
- noon to 1 p.m. Modo Yoga – This classic sequence of 40 postures is accessible for all levels. Modo is not a flow style of practice but is a cardiovascular practice of held postures that involves muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.
- 1 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. Orangetheory Fitness – Full body strength and stretch body weight only. Squat, plank and stretch with Orangetheory Fitness
- 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. D.a.n.c.e FIT – It’s dance workout which looks and sounds more like a Dance Party! It’s full body workout, designed for all levels and all ages, combining different kind of rhythms and styles from Salsa, Flamenco, HipHop to Bollywood and Belly dance. Feeling you are travelling all over the world in one Class!
- 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pound Fit – Instead of listening to music, you become the music in this exhilarating full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements. Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out.

- National Multicultural Day | 805, 793 and 771 Bedford Highway | 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- In celebration of the National Multicultural Day you can visit participating restaurants and enjoy free samples at this event, held in various restaurants at the plaza. There will be a sign at all participating restaurants.
Tuesday June 27
- Arabic Night | DeWolf Park | 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Arabic/English dance mixes by DJ Milad as well as drummers.
Wednesday June 28
- Kids Extravaganza***| DeWolf Park | 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Glow’s Fun Land | DeWolf Park | 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Bouncy castles will be set up. Arrive early to beat the lineups. Tickets and bracelets are sold on site. Note: Wednesday bracelets are only valid for Wednesday.

- Join us at the main stage for live music by Tyler Key.
- Kids’ Canada Day Party* | DeWolf Park | 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Activities with the mermaids, a cirque show and lots more.
