Warmer weather settles in
Temperatures since the start of the year have been above normal almost everywhere in Canada, with the exception of a short cold snap.
Quite a cold start to February
After a very mild January for most of the country, very cold weather prevailed from January 29 to February 4, and several parts of the country experienced some of the coldest wind chill ever recorded.

Warmer weather settling in
The cold weather gave way to mild weather that would last several days.
This mild weather started on February 3 and 4 in Western Canada and reached Eastern Canada on February 7 and 8. It should last at least until February 13 and 14 in the West and until February 17 in the East.

In eastern parts of the country, this mild weather will accentuate the seasonal temperature already well above normal. In fact, since the beginning of December, temperatures have been almost constantly above normal in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. Despite the intense but short period of cold from January 29 to February 4, winter temperatures sit at 3.5 to 5 degrees warmer than normal as of February 8.
