The October 15 news release below has generated extensive comments, with many citizens questioning why we are looking for tips for Ryan James Jessop as a missing person.

We remind citizens that regardless of a person’s background, they and their families are entitled to police services like anyone else. Ryan James Jessop is currently missing, his family is very concerned for his safety and the police take it very seriously. We ask that commentary be made in a considerate manner. We will provide a further update as soon as we can share.

Investigators have determined that Ryan was last seen in the area of Dartmouth Crossing on the evening of September 27, 2020 and is believed to have been wearing a blue track suit and a black puffy Guess vest.

We can confirm that our presence in Dartmouth Crossing this weekend is in relation to this file; however, we are unable to share additional details at this time and ask the public to avoid speculating on the matter.

Missing Person – Ryan James Jessop

Halifax Regional Police is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing 33-year-old man.

Ryan James Jessop has not been in contact with family members for a number of weeks. This is out of character for him, and his family and police are concerned for his wellbeing.

Ryan is described as white, 5’ 10”, 175 lbs with dark brown hair and green eyes.

Police are asking Ryan or anyone with information on his whereabouts to call Halifax Regional Police at 902-490-5020. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip – Tip 202 + your message to 274637.
