Parking Technology Project launch dates

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following changes to parking and the launch of new parking technology.

The municipality will fully launch the new Parking Technology on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

On Monday, Oct. 5, the municipality will activate the new online parking Permit & Ticket Management Portal — the new location to manage residential and commuter parking permits as well as allow for payment of parking tickets. Once the Permit & Ticket Management Portal is live, residents are encouraged to create an account on Halifax.ca/parking before the first monthly permit release on Thursday, Oct. 15. Residents can still visit an in-person Customer Service Centre to register for, and purchase, permits. The new online ticket management system offers a secure payment portal for tickets issued on, or after, Sept. 1, 2020. Tickets issued on, or before, Aug. 31, 2020 will be paid through the existing parking ticket payment portal. To learn more about how parking rates will change, click here.

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the following components of the Parking Technology Project will be in effect:

Pay stations and pay zones:

HotSpot App:

  • On Oct. 13, the HotSpot app will update for all residents that have Halifax listed as their “home city.” This update will include reference to zones as opposed to meter number, and will also offer a per-transaction payment option with 0.10 cents per transaction in addition to the existing monthly and annual membership options. AIMS Integrated Enforcement:

  • On Oct. 13, all officers and contractors will transition to the new enforcement management system. Staff from Parking Services will be on-street in the coming weeks offering support to residents trying to navigate the new system.
