**** Municipal Release

Road Closure – Valour Way at Upper Water Street

Location: Valour Way at Upper Water Street

Date: Effective Monday, February 6

Time: 24/7

Work details: Access to Valour Way from Upper Water Street will be closed permanently. Access to/from His Majesty’s Canadian (HMC) Dockyard will be opened along Upper Water Street by HMCS Scotianfor those authorized access within the HMC Dockyard operational zone. This change is in support of the Cogswell District project.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists: Access to Department of National Defence (DND) property via Valour Way at Upper Water Street will no longer be available to personal vehicles. Motorists should access DND from North Street at Valour Way and Barrington Street, or Barrington Street at Niobe Gate Bridge.

Transit: Stop 8413 and Stop 8414 along Upper Water Street will be closed.

Route 50 Dockyard-Shipyard, both inbound and outbound, will be on detour.

Pedestrians: Authorized pedestrians can access DND’s HMC Dockyard property through a new access point along Upper Water Street by HMCS Scotian. Pedestrian access to Upper Water Street is maintained along the newly opened multi-use path. Pedestrian access is maintained at Barrington Street, and Valour Way at North Street. Signage will be in place.

Cyclists: Authorized cyclists can access DND’s HMC Dockyard property through a new access point along Upper Water Street by HMCS Scotian. Pedestrian access to Upper Water Street is maintained along the newly opened multi-use path. Signage will be in place. Cyclist access is maintained at Barrington Street, and Valour Way at North Street.

Trucks: Commercial truck traffic accessing DND’s HMC Dockyard property can do so from the new truck access along Upper Water Street by HMCS Scotian.

Road Closure – Hammonds Plains and Bluewater roads

Location: Hammonds Plains and Bluewater roads

Date: Monday, January 23

Time: 3 p.m. until the stormwater subsides

Details: Due to current weather conditions, the intersection is closed due to flooding.

Traffic impact: Detours are in place while the intersection is closed. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

CONTINUING WORK

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from the Kennedy Hill intersection to Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Apple River Bridge

Apple River Bridge, on Shulie Road between Advocate and Joggins, is closed until further notice due to structural damage.

Signs and a detour are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford/Lower Sackville

Highway 102, from Exit 4A to Exit 4C, will have lane reductions and intermittent road closures on the northbound and southbound highway for the construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 Interchange.

Highway 102 northbound and southbound, Highway 101, Bedford Highway, Bedford Bypass, Duke Street, Glendale Avenue and Sackville Drive will have intermittent road closures for blasting until June 30.

Traffic control will be on-site. Road closures for blasting will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Lane reductions will occur from sunrise to sunset Monday to Thursday and from sunrise to noon on Friday.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp is closed until September.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Trunk 30, Tarbotvale

Trunk 30, from 500 metres west of Route 312, is reduced to one lane until Friday, January 27, for replacement of a retaining wall.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
