This is why the RCMP asks people to report erratic driving
On September 24 at 10:15 a.m., Colchester District RCMP responded to a call of an erratic driver on Hwy. 102 near Stewiacke. Police made a patrol and located the black SUV swerving on the highway, and nearly side swiping two other vehicles. Police activated the lights and sirens on the police vehicle and attempted to stop the SUV but it failed to stop initially, and a short time later struck a guardrail, overturned, and came to a rest in the ditch. No other vehicles were involved.
The driver, a 31-year-old woman from Alberta who was alone in the vehicle, was showing signs of impairment and was arrested by the RCMP. She was taken to hospital by EHS where a blood sample was taken, and later released from police custody. She did not sustain any significant injuries. She will be scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial Court at a later date.
Nova Scotia RCMP wants to thank the several people who called to report this driver. We would also like to thank the several witnesses who stopped at the scene and provided their names to police, so they could give statements to support the charges in court. The RCMP asks everyone on the road to drive responsibly, and if others are not driving safely, we ask you to report it to us as soon as you can.
The investigation is ongoing.
