Weekly Traffic Advisories (Dec 16)

Note: Each week the local listings are expanded and updated. During the week new and updated tasks are added. Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

 

**** Municipal Release

Traffic Delay – Jubilee Road

Location: Jubilee Road, between Oxford Street and Cambridge Street

Date: Wednesday, December 21

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is to install a natural gas lateral in front of civic address #1710.

Traffic impact: An altered centerline will be in place on Jubilee Road. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Bayers Road

Location: Bayers Road, between Desmond Avenue and Joseph Howe Drive

Date: Wednesday, December 21

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: A traffic delay will be in place to facilitate underground utility work.

Traffic impact: A lane drop will be in place for westbound traffic on Bayers Road, between Desmond Avenue and Joseph Howe Drive, while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure and Traffic Delay – Windsor Street ramp

Location: Windsor Street ramp, outbound to the MacKay Bridge, and Barrington Street directly below the MacKay Bridge

Date: Monday, December 19 to Thursday, December 22

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: A temporary ramp closure and lane drop will be in place to facilitate work on the MacKay Bridge.

Traffic impact: Lane reductions will be in place for traffic approaching the MacKay Bridge.

Stop-and-go traffic will be in effect on Barrington Street (directly below the bridge. The southbound exit ramp to Robie Street from the Windsor Street ramp will be closed to all traffic. A signed detour route will be in place while work is underway.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Lower Water Street

Location:​ Lower Water Street, between Salter Street and Prince Street

Date: Sunday, December 18

Time: 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. ​

Work details:​ This work is for pavement maintenance.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact:​ A detour will be in place to direct traffic up Salter Street during work. There will be no access to Lower Water Street via Sackville Street during this time. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

NEW WORK

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Canso Causeway

The Canso Causeway will be reduced to one lane for repairs during the evening and overnight from tonight, December 16, until Friday, December 23.

Work takes place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Traffic control will be on-site.

Both lanes on the causeway will be open during the day.

 

CONTINUING WORK

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Old Truro Road, Tatamagouche

Old Truro Road, from Kennedy Hill intersection to the Cross Road in North River, is closed until further notice due to a large culvert failure.

A detour is in place.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Slade Road, Tatamagouche

Slade Road is closed between Lake Road and West Tatamagouche Road until further notice due to a bridge closure.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Apple River Bridge

Apple River Bridge, on Shulie Road between Advocate and Joggins, is closed until further notice due to structural damage.

Signs and detour are in place.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Route 344 (Main Street), Mulgrave

Route 344/Main Street traffic is being re-routed onto the newly installed detour bridge.

The entrance to Mill Street from Main Street is closed, and drivers should use an alternate route. Signs are in place.

The detour will remain in place until Friday, December 23.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102, Bedford/Lower Sackville

Highway 102, from Exit 4A to Exit 4C, will have lane reductions and intermittent road closures on the northbound and southbound highway for the construction of the Highway 107-Highway 102 Interchange.

Highway 102 northbound and southbound, Highway 101, Bedford Highway, Bedford Bypass, Duke Street, Glendale Avenue and Sackville Drive will have intermittent road closures for blasting until June 30, 2023.

Traffic control will be on-site. Road closures for blasting will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Lane reductions will occur from sunrise to sunset Monday to Thursday and from sunrise to noon on Friday.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Route 277

Route 277, from Old Trunk Road, Lantz, to Milford Road, Carrolls Corner, will be closed for road repairs until Friday, December 23.

A detour is in place via Trunk 2.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101, Windsor

The eastbound off-ramp at Exit 6, Highway 101, is closed for the construction of a new interchange to downtown Windsor.

A detour is available via Exit 5A. The off-ramp is closed until September 2023.

HANTS COUNTY: Hydes Bridge, Lantz

Hydes Bridge on Highway 277 is closed until further notice.

A detour is in place via Dutch Settlement Road, Elmsdale Road and Trunk 2. Signs are in place.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Path Bridge, Bayport

Indian Path Bridge, Route 332, is closed for replacement until further notice.

A detour is in place.

PICTOU COUNTY: East River West Side Road, Eureka

The section between 6280 East River West Side Road and Churchville Road is closed until Wednesday, December 21, for the replacement of the Eureka Mills Bridge.

A detour is in place.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge, Isle Madame

Port Royal Bridge on Port Royal Road is closed until further notice. A detour is in place on MacEachern Road.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Trunk 30, Tarbotvale

Trunk 30, from 500 metres west of Route 312, is reduced to one lane until Tuesday, December 20, for replacement of a retaining wall.

Traffic control is on-site. Work takes place weekdays from sunrise to sunset.
