Rainfall warning in effect via Environment Canada

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Locations: Atlantic coast of mainland Nova Scotia.

Total rainfall: 25 to 40 mm, with locally higher amounts possible.

Time span: Thursday afternoon until Friday morning.

Remarks: A few hours of snow is expected for most areas prior to the precipitation switching over to rain. Be sure to clear storm drains and gutters of ice and other debris in advance of this system. Mild temperatures accompanying the rain and strong winds will lead to significant snowmelt and excessive runoff.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
