*All Halifax Transit bus and ferry services are free for people aged 65 and older every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and after 6 p.m.
Transfers
Paper TransfersPaper transfers are valid for up to 90 minutes after the end of the route and may be used travelling inbound or outbound on any route or service. Punch marks are used to specify the issue date and torn off to indicate the transfer’s expiration time. Ask the Operator for a transfer upon boarding and paying for the bus or ferry.
HFXGO TransfersOnce activated, use the same HFXGO mobile ticket or pass to transfer to another bus or ferry route. HFXGO tickets are valid for 150 minutes (2.5 hours) from activation.
Buying Tickets and Passes
There are a number of ways to pay for your ride:
Download HFXGO, Halifax Transit’s mobile fare payment app, and pay for tickets and passes with your smartphone.
Buy Halifax Transit tickets, monthly passes and Regional Express XPasses from Halifax Transit’s retail partners, or at municipal Customer Service Centres located at:

Bayers Road Centre, 7071 Bayers Road, Suite 262, Main Level, Halifax
Pay when you board using exact change.
Please note: Monthly passes are available for purchase from the twentieth (20th) day of the previous month to tenth (10th) day of the monthly pass’s valid calendar month. For example, a June monthly pass would be available for purchase from May 20 until June 10.
