Police charge man in robbery and assault
On January 17 at approximately 7:10 p.m., officers responded to an assault in progress near the 6100 block of Young Street in Halifax. Officers located a man with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers located and arrested the suspect nearby. The two men are believed to be known to one another.
A 48-year-old man was held and is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
- Robbery
- Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death
- Assault by choking, suffocating or strangulation
- Aggravated assault

Police charge man in break and enter
On January 18 at approximately 7:40 a.m., officers responded to a break and enter that had just occurred on Skeena Street in Dartmouth. A man damaged the rear the door of a residence and then entered into the home where he was confronted by the homeowners. The residents were able to usher the man back outside at which time he attempted to get into their vehicle. There were no reported physical injuries. At approximately 7:50 a.m., officers located and arrested the suspect.
A 60-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court to face charges of break and enter into a residence and mischief.
