Weekly Traffic Advisories

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Bedford Bypass

A repaving and guardrail project is taking place on the Bedford Bypass westbound lanes, from the exit to Dartmouth Road to the overpass near the intersection of Highway 101.

Repairs are being completed on the structures over Memory Lane, and require a full road closure between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. A detour will be in place for traffic bound for Highway 101.

Traffic will be rerouted to Cobequid Road, Glendale Avenue, Highway 102 and Highway 101.

Motorists should expect delays between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Sept 4.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Bell Boulevard

Bell Boulevard, from the Highway 102 northbound ramp to east of Pratt and Whitney Drive, will have lane reductions for road widening, paving, curb and intersection removal.

No road closures are planned. Work is scheduled until Friday, Sept. 4.

Traffic control will be on site.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road in Meaghers Grant, will be closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Pratt and Whitney Drive

Pratt and Whitney Drive, from Aerotech Drive to Baldwin Drive, will have lane reductions and lane closures for curb and road repair until Friday, Sept 4. During this time Pratt and Whitney Drive, from Baldwin Drive to Bell Boulevard, will be closed.

Traffic control measures and detours are in place.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer 2021.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall 2021

Kinclaven Road – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Kinclaven Road, between Lockview and High roads, on Friday, September 4.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Robie and North streets – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will require the signals to be shut down at the intersection of Robie and North streets on Saturday, September 5, 2020.

Crews will be on site from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.​ Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct motorists, cyclists and pedestrians around the work site while the signals are shut down.

Margaret Road – Road Closure

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Margaret Road, between Cowie Hill and Mountain roads, will be closed on Tuesday, September 8.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. A marked detour will be in place while work is underway. Local traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.

Halifax Transit bus route #14 will be impacted as a result of this work. The following stops will be missed:

  • All stops on Mountain and Margaret roads
  • All stops on Cowie Hill Road, between Ridge Valley and Herring Cove Road

The route #14 detour will be as follows:

14-outbound: from Tamarack Drive (no service to Mountain Road)

  • Left to Peter Saulnier Drive
  • Left to Cowie Hill Road
  • Right to Ridge Valley Road
  • To regular routing

14-inbound: from Ridge Valley Road

  • Left to Cowie Hill Road (no service to Mountain Road)
  • Right to Peter Saulnier Drive
  • Right to Tamarack Drive
  • To regular routing

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Lockview Road – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Lockview Road, between the Lockview High School entrance and Old Lockview Road, on Friday, September 4.​

Crews will on site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Wildwood Boulevard – Road Construction

Friday, September 4, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Wildwood Boulevard, between Cranberry Crescent and Mount Edward Road, on Friday, September 4.​

Crews will on site from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Riverside Drive – Road Construction​

Wednesday, September 2, 2020 (Halifax)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Riverside Drive, from Glendale to Sackville drives, on Thursday, September 3 Friday, September 4.

Crews will be on site from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stop-and-go-traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Old Sackville Road – Road Construction

Tuesday, September 1, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Old Sackville Road, between the Walker Avenue intersections, on Tuesday, September 1 Thursday, September 3.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Riverside Drive – Road Construction​

Wednesday, September 2, 2020 (Halifax)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Riverside Drive, from Glendale to Sackville drives, on Thursday, September 3.

Crews will be on site from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Stop-and-go-traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Locks Road – Road Construction​

Tuesday, September 1, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Locks Road on Wednesday, September 2.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stop-and-go-traffic will be in place while work is underway.

St. Margarets Bay Road and Brentwood Avenue – Road Construction

Tuesday, September 1, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place at the intersection of St. Margarets Bay Road and Brentwood Avenue, from Wednesday, September 2 to Friday, September 4.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​ each day. Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.

Hammonds Plains and Pockwock roads – Road Construction​

Tuesday, September 1, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will require the signals to be shut down at the intersection of Hammonds Plains and Pockwock roads on Wednesday, September 2.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Traffic control personnel will be in place to direct motorists, cyclists and pedestrians around the work site while the signals are shut down.

Sackville Drive – Road Construction

Tuesday, September 1, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Sackville Drive, from Beaverbank Road to Millwood Drive, on Wednesday, September 2 and Thursday, September 3. ​ ​

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. ​

Old Sackville Road – Road Construction

Tuesday, September 1, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Old Sackville Road, between the Walker Avenue intersections, on Tuesday, September 1.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.

Duffus Street and Lady Hammond Road – Road Construction

Tuesday, September 1, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that electrical maintenance will require the signals to be shut down at the intersection of Duffus Street and Lady Hammond Road on Wednesday, September 2.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway.​

Primrose Street – Road Closure

Monday, September 31, 2020

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Primrose Street, from Victoria Road to Robert Burns Drive, will be closed from Tuesday, September 1 to Friday, September 4.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. A marked detour will be in place while work is underway. Pedestrian traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.

Old Sackville Road – Road Closure

Monday, August 31, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Old Sackville Road, between the Walker Avenue intersections, will be closed on Monday, August 31.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. A marked detour will be in place while work is underway. Local traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.

Hammonds Plains and Pockwock roads – Road Construction​

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Pockwock Road from Old Annapolis Road to Hammonds Plains Road on Saturday, August 29.​ Crews will be onsite form 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This work will require the signals to be shut down at the intersection of Hammonds Plains and Pockwock roads from 7 a.m. to noon. ​ ​

Bayers Road – Road Construction

Friday, August 28, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Bayers Road, near the Joseph Howe Drive intersection, from Monday, August 31 to Wednesday, September 2.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway.

Young Street – Road Construction

Friday, Aug. 28, 2020 (Halifax, NS)

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that road construction will take place on Young Street between Windsor and Robie streets on Monday, Aug. 31 and Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Lane drops will be in place while work is underway.

Please note: Those accessing driveways on this section of Windsor Street should expect delays.

Motorists are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Construction During COVID-19: Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to provide at least two metres of physical distancing.
