Multiple charges laid, drugs and weapons seized in Kings County

A lengthy investigation by police in Kings and Annapolis County has led to three people being charged with drug and weapons offences in Kingston.

On August 14 at approximately 2 p.m.,​ Kingston RCMP, Kings District Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) and Annapolis District Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU), executed a search warrant​ at a property on Main St. As a result of the investigation , police arrested three people and​ seized cocaine, cannabis, two rifles, a shotgun, a Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW), cash, computers, cellphones, scales and drug paraphernalia.

As a result of a traffic stop, Kerry Laffin,​ 63, of Middleton, has been charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Breach of Undertaking

Tina Smith, 48, of Kingston, has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Anything to Traffic Cocaine
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Unsafe Storage of Firearms
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

Shaun Smith, 41, of Kingston has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possess Controlled Substance for Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possess Firearm while Prohibited
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x 2
  • Possession of Weapon or Device knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

Kerry Laffin and Tina Smith were released on Undertakings with Conditions and will appear in Kentville Provincial Court November 10, 2020. Shaun Smith has been released on a Release Order with Conditions and will appear in Kentville Provincial Court on September 1, 2020.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending.
