Municipality welcomes SailGP participants
The Halifax Regional Municipality is looking forward to hosting the SailGP Rockwool Canada Sail Grand Prix.
Over 1,000 athletes, team members and families will make their way to the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts for the sailing competition, taking place from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2. Residents should anticipate increased traffic flow around the downtown area during this time and are asked to plan accordingly.
During the competition, Halifax Transit’s Alderney and Woodside ferry service will be paused daily from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit: halifax.ca/service-disruptions.
Every evening from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2, Argyle Street will host live concerts. There will be performances from Juno Winners Neon Dreams, Ria Mae, Adam Baldwin & the Jenny Wren, Rankin MacInnis and more. The Argyle Street Shore Party is a free all ages experience starting at 6:30 pm. every night. For more information, visit: downtownhalifax.ca/event/argyle-street-shore-party.
Residents are also advised that there will be no public access to the SailGP site at Kings Wharf during the competition. Additionally, no drones are permitted to fly over the event space (see map here).
