Rainfall warning in effect
Rainfall, combined with melting snow, is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this additional rainfall and melt water.
Locations: Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia from Lunenburg county to Guysborough.
Total rainfall: 25 to 30 mm (following 2 to 4 cm of snow).
Time span: this afternoon until early Wednesday morning.
Remarks: The heavy rainfall is forecast to be preceded briefly by a period of snow beginning late this morning. Clear storm drains of ice and debris to help with local drainage.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
