Police investigate hate-motivated incident
Halifax Regional Police is investigating what is believed to be an incident motivated by hate in Halifax.
On November 4 police received a report of a break and enter that occurred at approximately 12 a.m. at a residence on Drysdale Road in Halifax. A man entered a residence of a person unknown to him, followed the resident inside the home, yelled racially offensive language, and then fled the area on foot.
The suspect is described as white, approximately 5’10” tall, 150 lbs., with blonde hair and blonde beard and mustache. He was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants.
Investigators, along with members of the Hate Crime Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, are asking anyone with information about this incident or video from the area, to call 902-490-5020. We recognize that incidents of this nature can be very harmful to our community. We take incidents that are believed to be motivated by hate towards an identifiable group very seriously. If someone finds themselves exposed to behaviour that is offensive, threatening or intimidating, we encourage them to report it to police to investigate so we can determine if criminal offences have occurred. Even if the investigation does not find criminal wrongdoing in that specific incident, it is important to have it on record.
