Police lay charges in the murder of Chauntel Lizette MacIntyre

Investigators from the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have laid charges in relation to the murder of Chauntel Lizette MacIntyre.

On November 2, at approximately 9:50 a.m. investigators arrested a 31-year-old woman at a residence in Halifax and at 7:55 p.m. investigators arrested a 40-year-old man driving a vehicle in Halifax. The woman was released later in the day without charges.

Kenneth Wayne Clarke, 40, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face one count of first-degree murder.

On May 17, 2022, at approximately 12:45 a.m. police responded to a report of an injured person in the area of Sylvia Avenue and Herring Cove Road. Officers located 37-year-old Chauntel Lizette MacIntyre who had been stabbed.

She was taken to hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and ruled the manner of death to be a homicide.
