UPDATE: Digby RCMP arrest three people in investigation relating to assault on wharf
Digby RCMP has arrested three people relating to an investigation of an assault that occurred on a wharf in Weymouth North.
On August 2, 2023, Digby RCMP responded to a report of an assault and a theft at a wharf in Weymouth North. RCMP officers learned that four people had stolen a lobster crate, filled with lobster, from a boat at the Weymouth North wharf. When the four people were confronted by the property owner, they dumped the lobster back into the water and threw the empty crate at the owner, striking them on the arm. The four people then fled the area in a boat.
On August 30, Digby RCMP released photographs of the individuals involved, hoping that someone recognizes them.
On September 18, Digby RCMP arrested a 24-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, both of Brighton, after the men turned themselves at the Digby Detachment. The 24-year-old man will be facing charges of Assault with a Weapon and Theft under $5,000. The 34-year-old man will be facing a charge of Theft under $5,000. Both were released on conditions and will appear in Digby Provincial Court on December 11, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
On September 20, Digby RCMP arrested a 54-year-old Harrietsfield woman, after she turned herself in at the Digby Detachment. The woman will be facing a charge of Theft under $5,000 and was released on conditions. She will appear in Digby Provincial Court on December 11, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
