**** RCMP Media Release
As safety remains our top priority, we’re reminding people to continue to follow evacuation orders related to the Tantallon area and Shelburne County fires. As difficult as the situation is for evacuees, we’re asking residents to stay away from evacuated communities; it’s the safest thing for them to do.
At this time, we are not allowing people to return to their homes to retrieve medications or personal belongings. If you require prescription medication left behind, please contact your health professional or local pharmacy.
RCMP officers are proactively patrolling the #Tantallon and #ShelburneCounty areas, working in what are very smoky and difficult conditions, to keep your communities safe and secure. We’ve not received reports of suspicious activity in the evacuation zones.
Our officers are also warning of scams in relation to wildfire financial relief. If you receive a text message, email or phone call about financial relief, it is likely a scam. Wildfire financial relief is being administered by the Canadian Red Cross, you can find more information here: https://bit.ly/3MHtT5z
