Sydney man facing numerous charges after travelling 63 km/hr over the speed limit

On April 22 at approximately 8:32 a.m., a member of the RCMP North East Traffic Services was monitoring traffic on Hwy. 105 near in Dalem Lake. Police observed a Toyota Camry travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was measured at 163 km/hr, 63 km/hr over the posted speed limit.

The RCMP officer conducted a vehicle stop. The driver showed signs of impairment and police found that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that morning from Sydney.

RCMP Northeast Traffic Services has charged Shaun Emilio Alexander Pace, 40, of Sydney with the following charges:

  • Stunting for driving in excess of 50 km/h over the posted limit
  • Impaired Operation of a Conveyance
  • Impaired Operation of a Conveyance equal to, or more than, 80mg%
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle
  • Driving while Revoked

Pace is scheduled to appear in Sydney Provincial Court on July 11, 2023.

The RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road Safety is a priority for the RCMP, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.
