It’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month!

This is Special Constable Gregory Hussey, our Central Regional Enforcement Supervisor here at the Nova Scotia SPCA. ⭐

We were lucky enough to have Corporal Hussey join our team 4.5 years ago. “I studied law enforcement post-secondary in Ontario,” Corporal Hussey explained. “I returned to my home province of Nova Scotia as I felt an animal protection officer would be an amazing way to use my law enforcement skills and embrace my lifelong love of animals. I’m also a huge advocate of compassion and collaboration and felt this position fit that mold.” ????

Special Constable Gregory Hussey has helped hundreds of animals, so pinpointing just one special memory would be a tricky task. “I have fortunately been able to make a noticeable difference in numerous animals throughout the years,” Corporal Hussey shared. “One significant case I can think of is an abandonment case in which a dog and two bearded dragons were left alone in a home for a month. Fortunately, my partner and I were able to remove the animals in quick order, and miraculously, all the animals made a full recovery.” ✨

When Corporal Hussey isn’t running around rescuing pets, he is busy looking after his own SPCA alumni animals: Keeta, a two-year-old tabico cat, Iona, a four-year-old Himalayan cat, and Marley, an eight-year-old Golden Retriever. And somehow Corporal Hussey still finds time to help guide the next generation of animal lovers. “Keep in the mind that you never know what opportunities this world will present,” Corporal Hussey smiled. “You don’t have to follow a direct path to get where you’re going.” ????

On a scale of 1-10, Corporal Hussey’s kindness and dedication are off the charts. Please join us in giving Corporal Hussey and Enforcement Officers everywhere high paws for their hard work. ???? You are wonder-fur!
