Police lay firearm charges

Halifax Regional Police have charged two people with firearms offences in relation to an incident that occurred in Halifax on the weekend.

On April 16 at approximately 12:25 a.m., police responded to a report of a man with what was believed to be a firearm threatening another man in the area of the 2400 block of Barrington Street. The two men, who were not known to one another, were driving in separate vehicles and became involved in an altercation in relation to their driving. Both pulled over to the side of the road, and one of the men threatened, assaulted and pointed a firearm at the other man. The man with the firearm then left the area in his vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle a short distance away and arrested the man and the passenger. A loaded firearm was seized from the vehicle.

Dante Warnell Cromwell, 25, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
  • Possession of a firearm without a license
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
  • Possession of a firearm obtained by crime
  • Tampering with the serial number of a firearm
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Transporting a firearm contrary to regulations
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault
  • Uttering threats
  • Possession of a amunition contrary to a court order (x2)
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a court order (x2)

Emma Joan Findlay, 21, will appear in court at a later date to face the following charges:

  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
  • Transporting a firearm contrary to regulations
  • Possession of a firearm without a license
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
  • Possession of a firearm obtained by crime
  • Tampering with the serial number of a firearm
