Police lay charges in relation to assault with a weapon

Halifax Regional Police have laid charges in relation to an assault with a weapon that occurred in Dartmouth last week.

On April 14 at approximately 10:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance at an apartment building on Roleika Drive in Dartmouth. A man with a knife assaulted two people and then fled the area in a vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle in the 100 block of Slayter Street a short time later. The area was contained, and officers conducted a search of a residence the suspect was believed to have entered. The suspect was not located in the initial search, but officers located him in the residence after a secondary search.

Tyler Charles Boland, 27, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
  • Operation of a conveyance while prohibited
  • Failing to comply with conditions of a release order
