Police lay charges in Simon Joseph Morrison homicide investigation​ 

Police have charged a man in relation to the homicide of Simon Joseph Morrison that occurred last year in Halifax.

At approximately 1:40 a.m. on April 16, 2022, police responded to a weapons call in the 2400 block of Brunswick Street. Officers located a man who had been shot and was deceased. The Medical Examiner identified the victim as Simon Joseph Morrison, who was 18-years-old at the time. The manner of death was ruled to be a homicide.​

On March 6, 2023, a Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued for 19-year-old Keishawn Elton Jerius Stephenson of Halifax. Yesterday, investigators from the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, with the assistance of York Regional Police, arrested Stephenson in Markham, Ontario. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court next week to face a charge of second-degree murder.​

At this time, investigators believe this was not a random incident, and police are not looking for additional suspects.
